OUR MISSION

We encourage positive role modeling and individual expression, as well as nurturing children in intellectual, artistic, and personal development through performing opportunities, and extraordinary theatre experiences. Children learn the fundamentals of acting, stage presence and working alongside their peers. These lifelong skills not only apply to the theatre, but to public speaking, critical and creative thinking, self-esteem, and the development of leadership abilities.

SHINE ON STAGE!

Sleeping Beauty is the classic tale that follows Princess Aurora, who is cursed by the evil fairy Maleficent. She declares that before sunset on Aurora’s sixteenth birthday, the princess will die after pricking her finger on a spinning wheel’s spindle. In an effort to prevent the curse, the Three Good Fairies—Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather—persuade the king to hide Aurora away until the fateful day has passed. Fortunately, Merryweather alters the spell, and instead of dying, Aurora falls into a deep sleep, to be awakened only by true love’s kiss from Prince Phillip.

This high-spirited production is a golden ticket to a world of imagination, music, and fun, offering young performers an unforgettable theatrical experience!

Based on the classic book by Roald Dahl, Willy Wonka JR. is the whimsical story of the famous candy inventor, Willy Wonka, and the chaos that ensues when he decides to open his factory gates to five lucky kids and their parents for a tour. The story follows a young boy named Charlie Bucket and his journey from poverty to winning the ultimate prize, and it is much greater than a lifetime supply of chocolate. Willy Wonka JR. touches on the troubles that are brought about when kids are left to be spoiled and bossy and also shows how you can make beautiful things with a touch of “pure imagination.”

The Wizard of Oz

I loved theatre from a young age, but Children for the Arts is what turned that love into a passion. Acting in these programs through middle school improved my confidence, creativity, and teamwork. CFTA led me to FSU and a degree in Theatre and English, then Washington DC, where I am the Membership Manager at one of the most historic theaters in the district. Without Children for the Arts, I would not be where I am today! - Becca Barton
